Abstract paintings, camouflages, installations, maps and plans, sculptures of landscapes (imposing relief plans or models of sites), giving the appearance of scientific restitutions: it is as much a painter as a sculptor that David Renaud has been building a multifaceted atlas over the years, reflecting on a history of drawing and tracing that is other than artistic - that of borders. With David Renaud, avenues are opened up that go far beyond the boundaries of art. Of his practice, David Perreau writes that it could "be described as fictionalist: it belongs to a generation of ‘realist’ artists who are less concerned with representing the world than with elaborating other, parallel and mental worlds."
