From beach to school, Aurore Valade has tried to capture the “kind of energy that springs from boredom and reverie” as Baudelaire put it. Through several photographic series, she took an interest in the notion of “youth” as an overflowing vital force, and met teenagers whom she interviewed about their personal lives. With their complicity, she constructed scenarios that led them to (re)act scenes inspired by their daily lives. Aurore Valade re-enacts some of these situations, amplifying the often artificial and anecdotal aspect of the stories, which thus become almost fictional images, revealing the provocative attitudes typical of these young people who break codes and conventions in their quest to assert themselves.
