Française d’origine italienne, Yveline Tropéa vit et travaille entre la France et le Burkina Faso. Imprégné de ce mouvement entre les cultures, son travail s’est nourri d’influences diverses, des madones italiennes aux planches anatomiques françaises, des mythes méditerranéens à l’esthétique publicitaire burkinabée. Elle développe une pratique dite « dessin libre » : à la manière d’une écriture surréaliste, parfois considérés proches de l’art brut, ses dessins suivent un chemin sans dessein, au gré des associations que produit la main et l’esprit mystique de l’artiste. D’abord couché sur le papier, le dessin se soumet ensuite à un processus plastique qui donne in fine à voir une œuvre à la fois instinctive et travaillée, simple et précieuse. La pratique de la broderie et du perlage tient aussi de sa manière de croiser influences et territoires : Yveline Tropea a su s’approprier dans une œuvre personnelle les apports culturels, techniques et esthétiques de l’Afrique.

French of Italian origin, Yveline Tropéa lives and works between France and Burkina Faso. Imbued with this movement between cultures, her work has been nourished by various influences, from Italian madonnas to French anatomical charts, from Mediterranean myths to Burkinabe advertising aesthetics. She develops a practice called "free drawing": in the manner of a surrealist writing, sometimes considered close to art brut, her drawings follow a path without design, according to the associations produced by the hand and the mystical mind of the artist. First put on paper, the drawing then undergoes a plastic process that ultimately gives us a work that is both instinctive and worked, simple and precious. The practice of embroidery and beadwork is also a way of crossing influences and territories: Yveline Tropea has been able to appropriate in a personal work the cultural, technical and aesthetic contributions of Africa.
